Fluctuation

Recorded 15 March 2008

Fluctuation is a completely notated piece. It features a short clarinet duet and a percussion feature. The percussionist reads a tempo chart that notates the speed at which the percussionist should play while using brushes on the snare drum like in a jazz ballad. After the interlude the clarinets come back in with a repeating melody and the drums continue playing the snare. The electronics sneak in at this point and play the pitches that the clarinets are playing. The amplitude gradually increases and starts to distort as the piece ends.
